Hi,
Is anyone reading this...? Really...? (crickets...) You see... I don't mean to sound so lame, but I'm torn. I feel like I'm supposed to contribute to the educational blogosphere, and yet I have three followers.
Please... cue giggle (Yes, I want you to smile and giggle).
I had these ideal thoughts about what it may be like to blog and learn from others online, and yet - I feel quite unimportant in the grand scheme of things.
Yes, there must be 2 billion blogs out there, and everyone is pretty busy with life, so should I continue to blog?
Please - somebody leave a comment...!
And say, Yes, Mr. Chiocca, please contribute. Education and the future of public education depends on people like you, who care and want our kids to learn as much as they can in each grade level.
Thanks for reading!
Mr. Chiocca
Yes Mr. Chiocca, please contribute. I read your blog.
ReplyDeleteI wondered the same thing when I started blogging a week or two ago. But I decided that it wouldn't happen overnight. I figured I needed to post a few good posts, put up some Tweets 'advertising' my posts, and engage folks in some conversations.
ReplyDeleteTry the #edchat conversations that happen on Tuesdays. Great way to meet other people with interesting ideas and engage in conversations. I found good people to follow and picked up a few that chose to follow me.
But I also view my blog as a personal space to reflect. The act of writing my thoughts down forces me to reflect in ways that I wouldn't otherwise. So I'm going to try blogging for a while, even if I don't build a lot of followers.
Good luck.
Cheers.
Lowell
I struggle with the same thoughts...
ReplyDeleteI struggle with this as well. Check out my blog too!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way. My Blog http://fishingforedtech.wordpress.com/
ReplyDeleteDoes not get me much attention either. I look at blogs 2 different ways. 1) Like you said you are adding to the educational blogosphere. Even if only 3 people read it then that is a start. Those 3 people will hopefully share what they learned with another learning community. 2) Blogging is a great for self reflection. It gives you a chance to talk about things that are important to you and has made a positive impact on your education. So don't stop. Keep the great blogs and ideas coming!
Adam,
ReplyDeleteI like to blog as a means for reflection. It helps me get my thoughts down on paper and see if they are comprehensible. Of course the feedback from readers is great, but I think being reflective is important as well.
Have a great vacation week!
I'm a little late for this party, but I am so glad to see you have continued your blog. I think you should blog more:)
ReplyDeleteI found you through twitter when looking for other ELL teachers. There are way too may acronyms to search through and everyone uses something different:/
I just started my own blog as well. I'm happy to find another ELL teacher blog!
