Queen of Soul! Wow. For today's unconventional book tour post, I gotta give mad props to the original, "The Very Best of Aretha Franklin - The 70's" recording of "Something He Can Feel." Wow, .. just amazing. I grew up only knowing the splendid version by En Vogue (and they were awesome), when I was in high school, in the 90's. I don't think I ever heard Aretha's version. Wow, she sings with such soul, and beauty, that it's like I can't even breathe. Over the last few months, as I have dived into this journey to learn more about #randb #jazz #soul #theblues and #motown .. it's been so much fun, but sometimes, when I hear Aretha, I get that swell of emotion. Have you ever had that? Do you feel me? It's like you could almost cry; on occasion, I have cried to Aretha's singing. I realize now that sometimes we can connect to beautiful music on a spiritual level, and it feels so good. I sang Gospel in college, and I remember people in the audience being moved by the emotion or the spirit, and they'd get up, and dance, or sway, and raise their palms to God; and some would practically pass out in the aisles! Since then, I knew that music could be a spiritual experience, and I saw it, but I don't think I ever experienced it like this. Aretha has taken me to a whole nutha' level. Thank you, Aretha. With love, Adam Chiocca {book tour post, day 10, 1/10/21}
Hi, Is anyone reading this...? Really...? (crickets...) You see... I don't mean to sound so lame, but I'm torn. I feel like I'm supposed to contribute to the educational blogosphere, and yet I have three followers. Please... cue giggle (Yes, I want you to smile and giggle). I had these ideal thoughts about what it may be like to blog and learn from others online, and yet - I feel quite unimportant in the grand scheme of things. Yes, there must be 2 billion blogs out there, and everyone is pretty busy with life, so should I continue to blog? Please - somebody leave a comment...! And say, Yes, Mr. Chiocca, please contribute. Education and the future of public education depends on people like you, who care and want our kids to learn as much as they can in each grade level. Thanks for reading! Mr. Chiocca
